As an Applications Engineer, you are an integral part of the IT Business Systems – Applications Engineering team covering a wide range of disparate technologies. You will be primarily responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of Business Systems solutions including post deployment support (where applicable) across all CPA Global sites. Working within the Business Systems team you will lead and participate in projects to deliver new solutions/functionality and provide service improvements across the application stack. A highly motivated self-starter you will be expected to immerse yourself in new technologies, identifying where they can improve CPA Global service offerings. Principal Duties & Accountabilities Reporting to the Business Systems – Applications Engineering Manager. Provide technical expertise and support to CPA Global business units in particular Business Systems and Change Management Professional Services. Working with the Change Management Professional Services team to ensure any projects delivering new solutions or additional functionality are fit for purpose and supportable within IT Business Systems. Act as a subject matter expert on a varied technology stack to include but not limited to Atlassian JIRA/Confluence, ServiceNow, Cerberus – SFTP solutions, MS Power BI, Oracle E-Business Suite, Citrix – ShareFile, MSSQL, PostgreSQL. Provide global support for Business Systems within other service areas, where required. Root cause analysis on repeating issues to identify and resolve. Ensure documentation is produced (where new services have been introduced) and is fit for purpose. Lead and participate in projects to deliver service improvements across both Business Systems and associated IT / Business services. Provide recommendations for service improvement from conception to delivery. Ensure Business Systems processes are standardised across all offices and of a high quality. Key Skills & Experience Technical knowledge across a wide range of platforms and technologies including, but not limited to, Atlassian – JIRA/Confluence, Cerberus – SFTP, Citrix – ShareFile, MS Power BI, Oracle E-Business Suite, MSSQL, PostgreSQL. Strong database skills (database administration, SQL) and experience in automation and scripting. Required experience with MS SQL Server and experience with other database technologies e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle and DB2. A broad understanding of Active Directory, Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure etc.), server and network concepts and communication protocols. Ability to work both independently and within a tight knit team. Strong investigative and problem-solving mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, from technician to Board level. Ability to equate complex service issues to commercial reality Excellent relationship builder with well-developed influencing skills. A team player. Able to directly relate IT service initiatives to commercial business benefits. Strong negotiation skills and ability to work under pressure. A broad understanding of the patent industry.
