Job summary Amazon is looking for a Senior Communications Manager, Reputation & Issues, to support the Prime Video business in India. We are looking for an experienced Communications Professional who will thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high number of diverse campaigns. This role requires a high-judgment, self-motivated, and creative communications professional. The main responsibilities of this seasoned crisis communications professional is to work proactively on devising and executing reputational strategies for Prime Video in India, managing corporate news and strategic partnerships, and advance preparedness for various types of PR issues. The Senior Communications Manager, Reputation & Issues will work to leverage Prime Video’s initiatives to benchmark and track reputation, identify new opportunities and flag potential challenges. The successful candidate is in equal parts a fire fighter and storyteller, and responsible for assisting with the development protocols and processes to mitigate potential issues, and partnering with others in the organization on response efforts. She/he understands that the best way to solve a crisis is to constantly build a story that connects influencers and customers to the brand and builds reputation over time. This job requires a mid-senior level communications practitioner with the ability to counsel senior executives in mission critical moments. The ideal candidate with demonstrated issues management and crisis communications experience for a well-established company or brand. Global experience is highly preferred. Key job responsibilities Issues Communications and Preparedness . Lead Prime Video’s issues management strategy in India and execution. This includes: Serve as the liaison to the company’s cross-functional issues response group. Development, ownership and maintenance of Prime Video’s issues Communications Playbook Management of relationships with our communications agencies Regularly conduct vulnerability assessments and develop contingency plans to address the most pressing potential scenarios. Provide senior level counsel to management during times of crisis Translate complex issues into simple and easy-to-understand content, including statements, talking points, media responses, etc. appropriate for media and customers Identify potential issues and track possible concerns related to current events, social media trends, and business operations and proactively prepare for them Reputation and Issues Communications . Partner with the global and India teams to establish tools and processes to identify and monitor a full range of issues with the potential to negatively impact the company’s reputation and brand. . Develop company positioning on key issues – working in partnership with Prime Video regional and global leadership and key business partners. . Develop messaging and speaking points for external communications opportunities. . Effectively representing Amazon as a spokesperson . Build excellent relationships with the public affairs community . Identify opportunities to position Prime Video as a thought leader and force for good, and demonstrate the positive impact PV has on consumers and its key stakeholders Basic Qualifications : . Bachelor’s degree . Min 15 years public relations / communications experience. Preferred Qualifications : . Ability to communicate information effectively and accurately, verbally or in writing across multiple disciplines. . Proven ability to think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative . Capable of achieving results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often on short deadlines . The position reports to Head of Communications, Amazon Prime Video, India and will partner with Legal, public policy teams. . Expertise in developing global crisis communications plans, programs and policies. The company is looking for someone to go beyond the basic planning and help it think in new, dynamic ways about managing its reputation and responding to crises. . Experience applying best practices related to crisis preparation and response. . Track record of successfully managing communications during times of crisis in a global, matrixed organization. Calm and cool under pressure, and has strong experience counseling executives in crisis situations. Attention to detail is critical. . Experience managing teams, with a passion for developing talent and building career paths. . Comfortable operating in a matrixed environment. . Understanding of how to use data and research to drive efforts. . Experience partnering with legal, and public affairs partners. . Outstanding media relations skills and relationships, with experience engaging reporters on a regular basis on challenging issues. . Skilled at using social media / content creation to advance reputation goals and in response to crisis situations. . Track record developing and implementing compelling narratives to advance corporate reputation.
