The Data & Analytics team is the engine that powers JPMorgan Chase with insights to create competitive advantages for our business and deliver value for our customers. Within this organization, the Decision Sciences team leverages industry-leading data-driven techniques to convert data into meaningful insights that enable the firm to drive value and an outstanding customer experience. The Role The industry is rapidly changing and JPMorgan Chase is transforming our wealth management business to accelerate growth. We are looking for a talented senior associate to help execute our analytic strategies for the newly formed JPMorgan Wealth Management (JPMWM) business unit which includes Chase Wealth Management, JP Morgan Advisors, and Online Investing digital platforms. This is a vital, hands-on role and will be central in understanding investment customers’ financial needs and their interactions with our products, services, channels and Advisors. Key Responsibilities We’re looking for exceptionally creative, ambitious, ‘data curious’ thinkers who can help to extract true business value from data. A typical day might include: Designing a Alteryx workflow to wrangle messy, unrefined data from disparate sources to be efficiently consumed at scale by an automated scorecard Presenting a mock-up of a simple Tableau dashboard to key business partners that will enable them to identify key gaps in business performance Using SQL, SAS, and PYTHON to extract raw data and creating clear, actionable bits of information in response to an ad-hoc question from the business Develop enhanced reporting through use of automation, if required, such as excel macros or SAS/Python programming as needed Identifying opportunities to create new self-serve tools to put real-time information in the hands of decision-makers Monitoring data output and dashboards to proactively identify potential risks or emerging trends and seek to answer unasked questions Huddling around a white board to disaggregate a question from a senior leader, map out data sources, and debate the merits of potential solutions Designing a proof of concept to evaluate an external vendor’s data as a potential expansion of our analytic capabilities Qualifications: Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data or Information Science, or related quantitative analytic field with 5+ years of data science experience Expertise in SAS / Python programming to develop analytical, MIS and automation techniques Experience in wrangling large, complex datasets, strong database skills and ability to write, optimize and tune complex SQL script Possess the hard programming, combined with the softer communication, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to scope, develop, and deliver elegant solutions to complex problems Obsess over all things data, including volume, variety, veracity, velocity, and visualization Are experienced and skilled with Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Shiny Dashboards) Can efficiently manipulate data from disparate sources using Alteryx and other ETL tools and have a keen eye towards automation Want to get your hands dirty across a wide range of projects that range from ad-hoc reporting, dashboard development, and process mining to descriptive analytics, benchmarking, and data visualization Stay abreast of new applications but can recognize and apply the right technologies when the challenge you are solving is less complex Have a demonstrated ability to think both independently and collaboratively to implement creative solutions that solve business problems, being diligent in the detail while maintaining focus on broader purpose and business objectives Are comfortable summarizing key information and presenting recommendations to multiple stakeholders to influence senior management Bonus points if you: Previously worked in an analytics or insights function at a financial services firm Understand personal investments and the function of markets Have a strong grasp of Agile (scrum) methodologies Are a lifelong learner and hold a growth mindset we welcome individuals who geek out on industry podcasts, stay abreast of cutting edge techniques, and love to share what they are learning with the rest of the team
