The primary role of Global Internal Audit (INA) is to help the Board and Executive Management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the HSBC Group. INA provides independent and objective assurance as to whether the design and operational effectiveness of the Group’s framework of risk management, control and governance processes, as designed and represented by management, is adequate. Role purpose We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Audit Manager – India Country Audit Team.The role of the Senior Audit Manager is to lead the delivery of audits, some of which may be major and/or highly complex, which provide internal customers and stakeholders with critical assessments of the HSBC governance, risk and internal control frameworks. The Senior Audit Manager also works: To ensure that audit assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner with due respect to the standards established by INA, industry best practices and the relevant risk and regulatory environment To provide specialist professional advice on audit findings and recommendations, thus ensuring that they are both fully understood and properly implemented by management. Principal Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for: Effectively manage audits and audit activity through planning and delivery of the annual audit plan within expected timeframe, standards and methodology, budget, while achieving quality of deliverables. Drive the co-ordination and collaboration to ensure consistent delivery of audit work across the Global Businesses and Global Functions. Engage with key stakeholders to provide strategic advice by utilising knowledge of the business and the governance, risk and regulatory frameworks. Managing the interface between internal and external stakeholders to ensure a common approach and understanding of key deliverables. Governance and Committee Memberships (membership of ExCos, Risk Management Meeting) Lead INA representative at Compliance Oversight Management Committee, providing cover at DBS CEMM , ORWG Accountabilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders 1. Business expertise (i.e. commercial awareness, understanding of direct competitor products / services) Demonstrate strong knowledge of the applicable Business, Functional, and Regulatory environment, including developing trends, risks, controls, and expectations. Support a strong risk and conduct culture across the Group and promote awareness and sound operational and strategic decision-making. Critically analyse and determine key drivers of change for HSBC and the wider Banking industry and assess how these will impact INA’s coverage and engagements. 2. Nature of impact (i.e. does the role set / significantly influence business or functional strategy, role criticality to strategy) Devise, develop and champion the use of relevant audit techniques and approaches to drive operational effectiveness and improve management of audit assignments. Use insights and knowledge of HSBC, the industry and current developments to assess areas of concern. Regularly review audit plan to confirm focus on material risks and regulatory requirements. Effectively manage and execute audit plan within the allocated budget and resources. Effective communication with Senior Management on the major plans, projects, strategic developments, and industry trends that impact functions and businesses. Maintain constructive relationships with external auditors and regulators. 3. Area of Impact (i.e. geographical remit, complexity of products / businesses the role is accountable for) The geographical remit of the role covers INM India . Leadership (i.e. manages people – professionals, manager of managers) Promote the use of HSBC standards, sharing of knowledge and industry best practices. Coach and mentor team members and colleagues to enable professional development. Facilitate a culture of continuous learning, encompassing technical and soft skills. Deliver audit assignments, including continuous monitoring and risk assessments, provide constructive challenge, and value adding engagement with key stakeholders. Share business developments, management information, and updates obtained from Senior stakeholders with team members. 2. Interpersonal Skills (i.e. collaboration and networking external / internal, external / internal negotiation required and at what levels) Actively promote collaboration and sharing of ideas across INA. Contribute to the development of a results oriented, highly motivated, diverse and inclusive team. Coherently articulate audit findings to stakeholders and obtain commitment to correct control deficiencies. Effectively discuss potentially challenging matters and successfully negotiate the acceptance of audit findings and outcomes. Ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences. Functional Knowledge & Experience 1. Job functional knowledge & experience (i.e. understanding of concepts / principles in own discipline and across disciplines) INA values the diversity of perspectives, knowledge and experiences. Relevant work experience in the Financial Services Sector, consultancy, and external audit will be considered, but is not always essential. Relevant regulatory experience of RBI and product knowledge of INM portfolio Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or other relevant discipline. Relevant accounting, audit, analytical, financial, project management, programming, quantitative, risk, and technology skills, qualifications or certifications. 2. Problem solving (i.e. complexity and evaluative / analytical thinking involved in formulating solutions) Analytical and critical thinker, who can effectively manage competing priorities and complex challenges to deliver positive outcomes. Apply qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze and investigate challenging scenarios and situations. Produce smart, simple, and pragmatic solutions. Qualifications Post Graduate with at least 15+ years’ experience in Banking or Financial Services organization. Must have 5-10 years’ of prior work experience in Audit. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to provide high quality business insight and effectively communicating key issues and outcomes through appropriate documentation and reporting is a key requirement of the role. Ability to lead and manage an audit team. Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail.
